Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome
Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is a condition characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, often accompanied by compulsive hot bathing, due to chronic and long-term cannabis use. IV hydration therapy can be an important part of the treatment for CHS, particularly if dehydration is a concern. This therapy helps to quickly restore fluid balance and replenish essential electrolytes lost due to excessive vomiting. The most effective treatment for CHS is to cease cannabis use, but supportive care, including anti-nausea medications and pain relievers.
